I was having a conversation with someone (let’s call her Annie), and the first thing she said to me was, “I have to get over the selfish feeling of wanting more for myself.”
Annie was STUCK and struggling with how to have the next breakthrough in her business, so she could create the financial resources and freedom that she wants.
But her brain was labeling the next steps (getting help) as “selfish.”
So she couldn’t acknowledge those next steps as the opportunity for her breakthrough.
Annie was having a value conflict.
How do you know this is happening to you? Like Annie, you’ll likely feel frustration, anger, or bitterness. ????
1 – Annie truly wanted something new (freedom and resources) BUT
2 – She was labeling getting support to expand beyond her current situation as “selfish,” and she didn’t want to be selfish!
So Annie couldn’t ask for support or put money towards her heart’s vision. She was the only one blocking her ability to receive more. It was a total blindspot for her, until we pointed it out.
Selfish was not good in the book of what she was taught to value and believe.
The Law of Polarity states that there’s good and bad in EVERYTHING!
EVERYTHING.
EVERYTHING.
Did you get that? Everything.?
There’s a time when “selfishness” benefits ourselves and the highest good of all.
In this case, setting new boundaries, and directing her time and resources towards herself, by receiving support to create a deeply satisfying life.
A deeply satisfying life is what allows us to show up as happier, more creative, and generous beings.
There’s also a time when selfishness keeps us from connecting to others, sharing our gifts and resources, or considering where another person is coming from at any given moment.
What it seems to boil down to is… (Note: this is my dancer, artist, embodied energy healing practitioner perspective.)
Where is there movement for you?
Where is there vitality for you?
Where is the satisfaction, peace, recognition, and fulfillment for you NOW?What and who can support you in connecting to that?
We’re not here to do things on our own. And sometimes our “selfishness” helps us connect even more deeply to ourselves, and therefore more deeply to others, with authenticity, humility, curiosity, and integrity.
We become better leaders, parents, friends, partners, business owners. We change the world!
So, is there somewhere in your life or biz where you’re not being selfish enough? Is there somewhere where you’re being too selfish?
Does looking at this through the lens of movement (not stuck) help you with this?
I’d love to know.
With gratitude and love,
Michelle

Here’s what clients are saying…
“Michelle’s coaching gave me the gift of understanding that there are structures and natural laws designed to support us fully! This includes supportive private and group coaching, which nurtures the individual within beautiful community. I now have ease and pace with which I can tap in to my truth and make decisions aligned with my true values! I’d been seeking this my entire life. I live and love in a small mountain town, supporting arts and culture as part of a heart-led team that enjoys building community. I get to experience beauty every day, and am even slowly moving into my own creative practices! You, my dear friend, are worth every penny to invest in a life-changing and possibly life-saving program. Michelle’s coaching saved my life, setting me on a trajectory that I’d been seeking for a very long time!”
– Lisa Olivia
“Michelle’s coaching includes so much of her research as a dance artist/healer and because her programs include meditation, movement prompts, and simple somatic practices, I am able to embody more awareness and a deeper sense of gratitude in my body. I can appreciate the places where I want to grow with less shame and more courage. I have greater faith in myself and that my needs will be met.”
– K.Go, Filipinx Dance Artist & Community Engager, (Philosopher, and Linguist)
“I wanted to start to heal from an old ‘stuckness’ that I experienced in relation to money. Last but not least, I wanted to create loving boundaries around my work and loving boundaries with others. Lots of wins & expansion! I’ve reached out to many different people and got many new opportunities all at once. For the first time in my life, I’ve truly, truly felt excited about the possibilities that life may offer for me. At times, I also felt like I became a sort of ‘center’ and a connector between many different people.”
– L.N., Composer / Sound Artist
